Who we are
SAYes Mentoring wants to end social poverty by helping individuals, business teams, educational institutions, and community groups to “do good, better.”
SAYes mentors provide a safe connection with young Londoners facing disadvantage, offering their insight, life experience and wisdom within a formal one-to-one e-mentorship programme. As a SAYes mentor, you can help guide young people to develop a deep vision for their lives, help them set personal and professional goals, and support healthy growth in every area that matters.
Volunteering with us
This volunteer opportunity is best suited for those who: have developed or are looking to develop a deep growth or process focus in their own life; care deeply about social change and scientifically credible ways of achieving it; and are confidently independent, knowledgeable and experienced, with good social networks.
Volunteers of all ethnic backgrounds and genders are welcome but, currently, male-identified and global majority volunteers are more underrepresented, so SAYes particularly encourage applications from these communities.
We’re looking for mentors who:
- are 26 years of age or older.
- have an understanding of spoken and written English.
- have access to the internet.
- are willing to undergo a criminal background check (a criminal record does not necessarily exclude applicants).
Volunteer mentor timeline:
- Submit an expression of interest.
- Interview (90 minutes at volunteer's convenience)
- Online training (12 hours of pre-recorded content, 12 hours of online real-time tutorials)
- Background clearance (typically a few days upon completion)
- Pre-mentoring calls and mentor-mentee matching (two to three weeks)
- Weekly one-hour video calls for nine months
